Things to see and do in Playa Blanca

Playa Blanca is perfect for families and couples with a selection of beautiful white sand beaches, a marina and a great selection of restaurants and bars to suit everyone plus plenty of shops with a wide range of goods ie perfume, beauty products, designer wear, electrical goods and two markets.

Playa Blanca is situated at the southern tip of the island, we visited it for the first time in the late 70's when it was just a small fishing village which has now given way to a luxurious resort that has still managed to retain its individuality-a lot of Spanish is spoken and the local people really appreciate any attempt you make to try out the odd word!! Playa Blanca offers you the chance to enjoy a tranquil but fun-packed holiday, there are chances to learn Scuba diving and get your PADDI qualifications, go cycling, walking, sailing, fishing and horse-riding-in fact there is so much to do you will be longing to return. Playa Blanca has a ferry service to Fuerteventura that make several crossings daily and at Punta Pechigueras is Lanzarote's only lighthouse. Papagayo is a string of beaches between Playa Blanca and Punta del Papagayo and of one of the beaches is the castle of Las Coloradas, constructed in the 18th century to complete the islands defence system to the south.
Timanfaya National Park is a short drive away - this is an area dedicated to minerals, volcanic cones, craters, seas of lava and the volcanoes-where you can eat in a restaurant that uses subteranian volcanic heat to cook its food, you can also enjoy a camel ride around the park.
Salinas del Janubiois on the way to Playa Blanca, it produces most of the sea salt needed by the fishing industry of Lanzarote and is a huge area of salt flats linked to the sea, a really spectacular sight.
This is only a very small selection of things to see a full information pack is provided in the villa and a smaller version is sent to you when you book so that you can be sure not to miss any of the delights that Lanzarote has to offer
